LABAY-BALIK | With much vulnerability around COVID-19, it's hard to envision how mass event gatherings would look like sooner rather than later. Also, truly, that incorporates magnificent events like intramurals, which students really love and is something that everybody is looking forward every school year.
On a centerstage and a runway with blazing lights and blasting music, this year was supposed to be a big one for Mr and Miss CNU, which was set for Mr. CNU 2019 Justine Joseph Desquitado and Ms. CNU 2019 Jade Mikaela Agot to have their final walk and for the crowns to be passed down to the new King and Queen. However, this most anticipated pageant of wit and glamour during intramurals is also one of the events being postponed due to COVID-19.
The whole experience was a lot for me to handle especially since I was juggling a lot of issues especially personal ones during that time. The experience was completely foreign and I found it very pressuring as a first timer but also grateful for the people who supported me all the way through. I may not have won the pageant and I honestly felt guilt for not winning the crown back for CAS but I did my best and what I could handle at that time. The experience was both a lesson and a blessing.
Alekka Cabalhug -Miss CNU 2019 CANDIDATE (CAS DEPARTMENT)
The postponement of this year’s Mr. and Ms. CNU is very much understandable due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. Technology can possibly cater events online but I think events like pageants are difficult to organize especially only through social media. We can always hold the pageant anytime whenever it is safe to do so. Health comes first before anything else.
Stephanie Mission - Miss CNU 2019 First Runner-Up (CTE DEPARTMENT)
When I first found out the competition was cancelled, of course I was a little disappointed especially given that I had already begun my training for it. However, I do know of the danger that COVID has brought to the world and I'm very much willing to take part in any precautionary measures to avoid its further transmission. So now, I'm looking at the bright side of this and I'm seeing it as more time to prepare ☺
Ms. Jade Agot Miss CNU 2019
The pause button may have been pressed in the search for this school year’s Mr and Ms CNU, however it will return more grounded as it become an image of progression, empowers person's development in certainty, cordial character, and a positive mental self portrait. Accordingly, let us all together look forward the fire of restoration for this exhibition, getting back to its foundations to kick off its reappearance and taking back to its previous brilliance as the most trusted and anticipated function in Cebu Normal University Intramurals.
