Virgin Coconut Oil a potential cure for COVID-19.
Currently, countries like Russia, China, US, Japan and etc.. is on their way to create vaccine for COVID-19. Its been 6 months since lockdown started in the Philippines due to the pandemic, and between that span of time, Filipino scientists discovered something. Filipino scientists found out, that virgin coconut oil (VCO) lowers the coronavirus count for about 60-90% for mild to moderate cases.

Philippines is a coconut-exporting country, and given that the country has abundant resource of coconut, it gives the Filipino scientists the potential and reason to pursue the experiment.
"The results are very promising, as not only does it show VCO, but itself, can destroy the virus, but it also has a key mechanism in upregulating the immune response against COVID-19", said Dr. Jaime Montoya, executive director of Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), posted on Department of Science and Technology (DOST) website.
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Sec. Fortunato De La Peña, said that the full analysis of VCO experiment, is expected to be released in the first week of November.
"There are still alternative solutions against COVID-19 aside from vaccines. Although further investigation is needed before we develop a possible prevention or treatment option, we aim to give Filipinos hope through our local research initiatives", said DOST Sec. De la Peña.
In their study, they found VCO to improve cell survival. However, more studies are needed to "determine whether higher concentrations of these components will further reduce the replication rate of the virus."
"we look forward to the results of clinical trials on the various uses of VCO as an adjunct for the treatment of COVID-19", said Dr. Jaime Montoya.
As of now, COVID-19 vaccine is currently on development, and according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the earliest projected availability of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines would be by April 2021.
